Undergraduate Electives Availability
The Distributed Learning & Rural Initiatives (DLRI) office is now gathering “pre-set” preceptor availability for Undergraduate Electives for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Electives are a vital part of medical education, and early exposure to rural and regional practice helps spark student interest while providing valuable one-on-one learning experiences. Honoraria are provided for both Career Development Weeks (pre-clerkship electives) and Clerkship Electives at a rate of $325 per elective week.
DLRI is aligning with the new UME process and follows the timelines and protocols outlined by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) Portal. Preceptors can continue to accept individual requests or share their availability in advance via this web form. While we understand that pre-booking availability can be challenging, the purpose is to streamline scheduling and reduce administrative workload. You will only be contacted with confirmation once a learner is assigned to you.
Please complete the form below to indicate your availability and communication preferences for the upcoming academic year.
Thank you for your continued support of rural and regional medical education.
