- Describe how rural physicians can incorporate simulation into their teaching practice for experiential learning through resource utilization and collaboration.
- Identify the current and future state of the eSIM Provincial Simulation Program in Southern Alberta.

Meet Our Speakers
We are very pleased to introduce this year's exciting lineup of speakers and workshop leaders for SAPS 2021!
Meet Dr. Hendrik Hak!
Session Topic: 50 Years in Medicine: A Rural Paediatrician's Perspective
Dr. Hendrik Hak began his medical career studying medicine at the University of Utrecht, in the Netherlands in 1971, graduating in 1978. From there he served as a House Officer in Emergency, Obstetrics and Surgery (1978-79), a Locum physician (1979 - 80) and completed Family Physician training, with the U. of Utrecht (1980 - 81).
After graduating he then moved onto serve as a Resident of Paediatrics, at the Hospital for Sick Children, in Toronto, Ontario where he would also serve as the Associate Chief Resident and complete his fellowship in Paediatric Respirology.
Since 1986, Dr. Hak has served as a General Paediatrician, both clinic and hospital-based, in Medicine Hat Alberta.
We are excited to have three excellent workshops for attendees this year, in addition to our plenary session and interactive panel discussion. Below you will find a little more information about our workshop presenters.

Rob Ritchie & Annamaria Mundell
Session Topic: Making Time to Incorporate Simulation into Your Practice
Rob Ritchie has been a Simulation Consultant with the Alberta Health Services Provincial eSIM program for the last 4 years. He is also currently working as a Flight Paramedic with AHS.
Annamaria Mundell has been a part of the eSIM Provincial Simulation Team since 2016 serving the South-West zone of Alberta. She is passionate about providing inter-professional Insitu support to front-line teams including learners at all levels of their career. Annamaria's support and mentorship inspires educator independence through collaboration, for local simulation-based programs.

Dr. Aaron Johnston
Session Topic: Imagining the Future of Rural Medical Education, a Workshop
Dr. Aaron Johnston is the Associate Dean of Distributed Learning & Rural Initiatives at the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine. He is also the Chair-Elect of the College of Family Physicians of Canada Section of Teachers.
Originally from rural Ontario, Dr. Johnston is passionate about rural healthcare. He is married and has two girls. When not at work, he enjoys skiing, hiking and spending time in the great outdoors.

Dr. David Topps
Session Topic: Pearls for Teaching Clinical Reasoning
Dr. David Topps has a long history with technology-enhanced learning, remote/rural information systems, and learner assessment. Dr. Topps started in rural Alberta in 1984.
