Jessalyn Holodinsky, PhD - Panelist
Dr. Jessalyn Holodinsky is an Assistant Professor (Data Science) in the Department of Emergency Medicine, with a cross-appointments to the Departments of Community Health Sciences and Clinical Neurosciences. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Calgary and also holds a Master’s of Science in Health Services Research. She is also the Director, Artificial Intelligence & Data, Education and Ethics for the Office of Faculty Development. She has over a decade of experience in university-level teaching and learning, predominantly teaching statistics and machine learning. She prides herself in making statistics both accessible and fun (yes, it is possible!). In her role at OFD, Jessalyn works to increase data and AI literacy across CSM faculty members.

Alan Santinele Martino, PhD - Panelist
Dr. Alan Martino (he/him) is an Assistant Professor in the Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies program in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. His main research interests include critical disability studies, gender and sexualities, feminist and critical disability studies theories, and qualitative and community-based research, particularly participatory and inclusive methodologies. His work has been published in multiple journals, including Disability Studies Quarterly, Sexuality and Disability, and Sexualities, as well as in edited volumes on disability and sexualities studies. He leads the Disability & Sexuality Lab at the University of Calgary. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the 2024 Early Investigator Award by the Canadian Sociological Association and the 2024 Early Career Award by the Sociology of Sexualities Section of the American Sociological Association.

Leticia Radin Pereira, PhD - Panelist
Dr. Leticia Radin Pereira's research focuses on investigating energy metabolism, dietary intake, and determinants of body weight and body composition of women during pregnancy and postpartum. Her research aims to explore the role of nutrition in promoting maternal health and preventing and treating obesity and related chronic diseases, especially over the women's reproductive years.

Pamela Roach, PhD - Panel Moderator
Dr. Pamela Roach is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary and is the Deputy Director and Associate Scientific Director - Population Health at the O'Brien Institute for Public Health. She is a PhD health researcher and member of the Métis Nation of Alberta who has worked in a variety of academic and community health care settings, both in Canada and the UK for more than 20 years. Her research focuses on Indigenous health, specifically brain health and dementia in underserved populations.
