The Nurse-run Stable RA Clinic, located within the South Health Campus Rheumatology Clinic, provides medical care to patients with inflammatory arthritis who have achieved a state of remission but require ongoing monitoring to prevent flares.
Created to address the shortage of rheumatologists and improve access to care, the clinic is run by a specialized team of nurses who evaluate patients’ disease state, provide recommendations for ongoing therapy and help manage risks and comorbidities associated with diseases. The unit works closely with practicing rheumatologists to allow for medication prescriptions and patient reviews. Appointments are available by referral only.
Preparing for your visit
Use the following resources to plan and prepare for your clinic visit.
When visiting our clinic for your appointment, please ensure to bring valid government issued identification and your Alberta Health Care card. Also bring a list of the medications you are currently taking (including any vitamins or supplements). To help make your physical examination more comfortable, bring a change of clothes (shorts, sports bra, tank top, etc.).
The doctor you see may be accompanied by medical students or other trainees. If you are uncomfortable with this, please let us know before your visit.
Our clinic is practicing all COVID-19 public health guidelines set forth by Alberta Health Services (AHS). This includes in-clinic social distancing and limiting the number of designated family/support persons who can accompany you.
