Medical Education and Research Capacity Building - Nicaragua

Project description:
For many years we have been working with our partners and UNAN Managua, in the areas of cardiology, cardiac surgery, oncology and radiology. We helped develop training curriculum, as well as delivering workshops. In addition, trainees and staff from UNAN-Managua completed observerships and other training opportunities at the Cumming School of Medicine. These were in part also supported by Canada’s Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) and other fellowship programs. Furthermore, we are assisting with establishing UNAN-Managua’s satellite University in Northern Nicaragua for local Medical, Dental and Optometry programs. Several of these are made possible with the support of the Rotary clubs.
