The University of Calgary has been collaborating with the Department of Medicine at the University of Gondar since 2016 to facilitate a Short Course in Clinical Infectious Diseases to local clinicians in training. Clinicians from the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary with expertise in the diagnostics and management of clinical tropical infectious diseases travel to Gondar to facilitate practical, case-based, interactive medical education workshops for local students. In addition, the group has started work on student-lead quality improvement clinical research initiatives to encourage a link between clinical work and research as well as promote ongoing capacity building of local expertise in Gondar.
