The Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR) is a knowledge network promoting health equity worldwide. Through the CCGHR you will find employment, leadership and involvement opportunities, and other resources.

Our office coordinates numerous funding programs for students and offers information on external funding opportunities. Funding is available for student travel, medical electives, student-led research programs and more.

Are you a student preparing for an upcoming global health experience? Make sure you review the information below. 

 

UME Trainees:

To ensure you have a successful elective make sure all your paperwork for your International Global Health Elective is complete and submitted, and attendance at all three pre-departure sessions are done. Please read the guidelines below. 

 

PGME Residents:

Please start your application 6 months before your intended date for you Global Health Elective. Make sure all paperwork is submitted early as there are various level of approvals that need to take place. Attendance at the pre-departure training simulation and the in person meeting for personal health & travel safety are completed.

All University of Calgary faculty, staff, residents and students are required to register with the University of Calgary Travel Registration system for any travel outside Canada. This allows the University’s Risk Management team to contact you once we become aware of an emergency in the country or area in which you are situated. It also allows us to assist you if you phone the University in an emergency. 

Register with the Government of Canada at: https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration. This allows the Canadian Consulate to contact you in case of an emergency. Country specific safety information can be found by visiting our partner countries pages or at https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories
