The Burn Rehabilitation Program

This year continued busy clinical and research work by the burn rehabilitation program.  Allwyn Gibbs, Occupational Therapist and Lindsay Burnett, NP joined the team and Dr. Gabriel was appointed Medical Director of the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre. The inpatient service managed several large burn injuries while the ambulatory care team took in 469 new burn patients for a total of 1,403 outpatient physician visits. 

The team completed a cohort study of burn patient satisfaction and another using instrumented outcome measures to assess burn scar.  Danielle Fuchko, RN was awarded 'best in category' in Disaster Management for her research presentation at the 2022 American Burn Association conference.  The team for the next year will continue to expand research activity and recruit additional team members.
