Start-Up Services

The Calgary Centre for Clinical Research offers a Start-Up Service to help investigators at the University of Calgary get started with industry-sponsored research.

  1. Services

    • A single-entry point for industry-sponsored studies
    • End-to-end coordination of study start-up, including:
      • Confidentiality agreements
      • Contracts
      • Budget negotiation
      • Ethics
      • AHS operational approval
      • Site initiation facilitation)
    • Streamlined collaboration with CSM Legal to shorten contract timelines
    • Experienced project management support through W21C
  1. Eligibility:

    • Available to investigators with little or no prior experience conducting industry-sponsored research at the University of Calgary
    • This service supports investigators through their initial industry-sponsored projects, with CCCR providing start-up support for up to three studies
    • Not intended for investigators who already have an established portfolio of industry-sponsored studies
  1. Investigator benefits:

    • CCCR provides full study start-up support at no cost for eligible projects:
      • Site selection visit
      • Contract management
      • Budget negotiation
      • Ethics
      • AHS operational approval
      • and more.
    • Operational and/or study start-up funds negotiated by the CCCR Finance Team are allocated to the investigator’s study budget
    • Upon project completion, if residual funds remain, CCCR will assist investigators in establishing a residual account - creating seed funding to support their ongoing and future research portfolio
