- Connect Care: To find the last note easily, under "Reason for visit" (Rooming or Nutrition Tab) type in Basic Pump Prep. It will say "no matches found" then click the new grey button that says "+Add basic pump prep as free text".  When you next look at Chart Review > Encounters you'll see "Basic Pump Prep" under "Chief Complaints".

-Connect Care: Consider editing the text on the side of the Basic Pump Checklist to add the date completed, in bold.

- Patients self book Intro to Pump Class (Zoom or In-Person) by calling 403-955-8146. No referral needed.

ADDITIONAL PUMP CHARTING PROCESSES

 

  1. BOOKING Pump Classes and Indiv Pump Starts 
    (DO NOT visit the specific educator's schedule) 
    • Go to "View Schedules" in CC
    • Choose Department: CGY RRDTC Diabetes Educators (top left)
    • Choose symbol of one person's head in front of a calendar (near top right) 
    • Choose 7 or 10 as the number beside that symbol
    • Bottom left, click the button that says "Combine Departments"
    • Click "clear" under Providers on left (so it is empty)
    • Select Provider on left. Type one of the following:
      • Indiv (CGY RRDTC Diabetes Any Indiv Pump Class e.g. 1:1, will show) 
      • Medtronic   (CGY RRDTC Diabetes Medtronic Pump Class will show) 
      • AutoMode   (CGY RRDTC Diabetes Automode Pump Class will show) 
      • Omnipod  (CGY RRDTC Diabetes Omnipod Pump Class will show)
      • Tandem   (CGY RRDTC Diabetes Tandem Pump Class will show) 
    • You should see numerous options and dates for that class show in the middle. If the class has a number inside a coloured bar, that is the number of openings left in that class. If a class has a "0" (zero) there are no openings left. 
    • Double click into the coloured bar of the class you want (that has openings) 
    • Find and choose your patient name
    • Choose visit type: Pick the most appropriate (indiv pump starts will still pick one to identify brand)
      • GROUP - Medt Insulin Class. Note, if "Indiv" (1:1) change LENGTH to 120. 
      • GROUP Visit  [choose for AutoMode class. Change length to 75 minutes}
      • GROUP - Tandem Insulin Class. Note, if "Indiv" (1:1) change LENGTH to 120. 
      • GROUP - Omnipod Insulin Class. Note, if "Indiv" (1:1) change LENGTH to 120. 
    • Complete the rest of the steps as usual for booking an appt. 
    • (Unclick "combine departments" bottom left and choose your current department again up top, left - to get back to your usual setup). 
  2. CHARTING Group Classes - including class of "1" for Indiv Pump Starts. See detailed Instructions for Documenting groups that was updated Feb 7, 2024.
  3. CREATE a Pump Educator/Pump Trainer quick pick list for Viewing Schedules quickly Video, (2 min)
  4. FINDING your "class" patients, even if indiv pump starts. 
    This involves the same first steps as charting for that class. 
    • Use the "Schedule" view in Connect Care.
    • Click date of the class. If you don't see a calendar, click the small black triangle beside your name, and click the black pin. 
    • Choose Department (under the calendar): CGY RRDTC Diabetes Educators  
    • In the left triangle of resources, somewhere under your name, click on the small black triangle to the left of the CGY RRDTC Diabetes Educators. You will now see all of your co-workers names and all the class names for that department. Click the one you are teaching and the name(s) appear. 
      • CGY RRDTC Diabetes Any Indiv Pump Class. (This a class of 1 person)
      • CGY RRDTC Diabetes Medtronic Pump Class  
      • CGY RRDTC Diabetes Automode Pump Class 
      • CGY RRDTC Diabetes Tandem Pump Class 
      • CGY RRDTC Diabetes Omnipod Pump Class 
    • Print yourself a paper list, if it is more than one person. The "Print" button is close to the 'Logout' button, top right. 
  5. ORDERS - requesting:
    • Create a new encounter > Documentation
    • Reason for encounter > Pump Start Orders
    • Use smartphrase .DCCCPUMPSTARTORDERS
    • Input the orders into Insulin Instructions/Pump Settings as Name: 
      1. Pump Settings (brand)- Awaiting approval
      2. Pump Settings (brand) Approved– pending start (or awaiting start)
    • Communications Tab > + add endo's name > Send all notes > send at sign visit
    • Add Visit Dx, sign
  6. ORDERS - viewing Video (3 min).
    • If via InBasket, you will get a reply in your inbasket AND the reply will be attached to the patient chart (click once on the documentation encounter it was sent from to see your original order request, scroll down that note to "communications" and click to read the MD comments. )
    • If via fax, check Chart Review > Media (sometimes might be in Referrals by mistake)

    • Input the approved orders into Insulin Instructions > Pump Settings as Name: Pump Settings Order Approved– pending start.
