The Department of Critical Care Medicine Research

We are a Calgary based team aiming to promote and provide research excellence in critical care. Our team is primarily engaged in health services research and has experience in an array of study methods including, cohort studies, randomized control studies and systematic reviews.

Our Work

The Department of Critical Care Medicine | Calgary Zone works closely with the University of Calgary on research projects.  Many research managers, assistants, and coordinators are employed through the University of Calgary and work with Alberta Health Services staff to work on ground breaking and innovative research.

Clinical

Research that involved people, or data/samples from people which are then studied in a variety of ways.

Biomedical

Research that involved the investigation of the biological process and the causes of illness though careful experimentation, observation, laboratory work, analysis, and testing.

Health Sciences

  1. The study, research, and knowledge of health and the application of that knowledge to improve health, cure diseases,

Medical Education

Research may include evaluation of the transfer or acquisition of knowledge, attitudes or skills in any topic relevant to human health among any type of learner, including health professionals, students in the health professions, and patients.

The The Department of Critical Care Medicine Research investigators are leading several pandemic studies. These studies are led by Drs. Parsons Leigh, Parhar, Fiest, Stelfox, Weatherald and Niven.
