Save lives through research and innovation. Make an impact today!

Why should I give?

Your gift makes an immediate impact on critical care in Calgary and beyond by directly supporting our research team and giving us the important information we need to make a difference.

The Department of Critical Care Medicine works closely with the University of Calgary on research projects.  Many research managers, assistants and coordinators are employed through the University of Calgary and work with Alberta Health Services staff on groundbreaking and innovative research. General research areas include: Clinical, Biomedical, Health Sciences and Medical Education.

We are leaders in clinical care, education and research. We strive every day for critical care excellence, with the best clinical outcomes, exceptional patient and family experience and zero preventable patient and staff harm.

Family and loved ones want to be involved

As a Patient Partner, I am involved in Critical Care research studies focused on developing relationships between medical teams and families in the ICU. Families can immediately bring attention to subtle signs of discomfort, anxiety and behavioral differences. They feel valued, reassured and empowered by being a big part of their loved one’s journey. Who knows patients better than their family members? Research has come a very long way but there is more to be done!

What is the impact of my gift?

Research that involved people, or data/samples from people which are then studied in a variety of ways.

Research that involved the investigation of the biological process and the causes of illness though careful experimentation, observation, laboratory work, analysis, and testing.

The study, research, and knowledge of health and the application of that knowledge to improve health and cure diseases.

Research may include evaluation of the transfer or acquisition of knowledge, attitudes or skills in any topic relevant to human health among any type of learner, including health professionals, students in the health professions, and patients.
