Biography

Dr. Noorshina Virani is a Clinical Associate Professor for the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine. She is the musculoskeletal section lead of the Division of PM&R and the team lead physician of the Neuromusculoskeletal Program at the AHS Chronic Pain Centre. 

Dr. Virani received her BSc in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in 1992 (with distinction). She then completed her MD at Queen’s University in 1996, and moved on to complete her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) residency from the University of Alberta, and a CSCN in Electromyography, both in 2001.  She moved back home to Calgary for the opportunity for multiple practises and for the recreational opportunities.

Dr. Virani divides her time with both clinical and research activities. Clinically, Dr. Virani’s work focuses on spasticity management, non-malignant chronic pain management, MSK, Electromyography (EMG), and musculoskeletal pain management in neurological disorders. She is also the long term care director for the visiting physiatry program at the Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning Center and is a neuromusculoskeletal consultant, AHS Chronic Pain Centre.
