Whitney Barham Fellowship

Philanthropic gift funding stroke research

The Calgary Stroke Fellowship Program couldn't be prouder of the Whitney Barham Stroke Post-Doctoral Fellowship — the result of a generous donation from Caroline Barham.

The fellowship, in collaboration with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, supports a post-doctoral award in the area of stroke research for a period of one-year, with the possibility of a renewal.

The first recipient was Dr. Sherry Hu, who also completed a clinical fellowship in the Calgary Stroke Program in 2022. For 2023, Dr. Marie-Andrée Panzini was thrilled to receive the fellowship.

"This gift is a remarkable contribution to the Calgary Stroke Fellowship Program," says Dr. Andrew Demchuk, Calgary Stroke Fellowship Program lead.

"The research that it funds will benefit clinical care not just in Calgary, but around the world. We are so grateful to the Barham family and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute for their support of this marvellous fellowship."
