Clinical Fellowship Evaluations

To ensure the highest standards of training and support, all clinical fellows at the University of Calgary are subject to mandatory evaluations throughout their fellowship.

Probationary Period

  • All clinical fellows must complete a mandatory probationary period:
    • 2 months for a 6 month fellowship
    • 4 months for 1-year fellowships
    • 6 months for 2-year fellowships
  • Satisfactory performance during probation is required to continue in the program.
  • The Clinical Fellowship Program Director and Clinical Fellowship Committee will review performance and submit a Probation Outcome Form to PGME SharePoint within 4 weeks of the probationary period ending.

Midterm Evaluation

  • A midterm evaluation is required for all clinical fellows and must be completed halfway through the fellowship. Trainees must check with their program administrator if their evaluation was completed and can ask their pgme fellowship coordinator about this via email as well. Fellows are expected to discuss all evaluations with their program director before evaluations are considered complete.

Sponsored Trainees

  • Sponsored trainees require an additional six-month evaluation for the following periods:
    • July – December
    • January – June
  • These evaluations are shared with the sponsoring agency.
