Observerships

Observerships at the University of Calgary provide non-clinical learning opportunities for trainees to gain insight into clinical practice within a residency program. Observers do not have direct patient contact and are not engaged in clinical decision-making or hands-on training. Observerships are managed directly by the individual residency program and Alberta Health Services Medical Education Office (AHS-MEO).

Application Process:

• Observership requests must be submitted directly to the residency program of interest.
• The residency program will outline specific eligibility criteria, required documents, and approval processes, with involvement from AHS-MEO, as required.
