Emergency Medicine Point-of-Care Ultrasound
Point-of-care ultrasound is an integral skill when practicing emergency medicine. Calgary emergency physicians have a passion for this exciting modality. The vast majority of Calgary ED physicians have been trained to the basic EDE I standards and many others have taken additional courses thus developing advanced skills on point-of-care ultrasound.
This section of the Department of Emergency Medicine website is a repository for all things related to point-of-care ultrasound in Calgary. Our goal is to provide up-to-date information on continuing education related to this exciting subject.
EM Ultrasound Co-directors
Danny Peterson BSc, MD, PhD, FRCPC, RDMS
Assistant Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine- Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary
Danny trained in emergency medicine at Western University after completing medical school at the University of Calgary. He completed a point-of-care ultrasound fellowship while in London and achieved his Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification. In addition, he has authored two book chapters on point-of-care ultrasound. Special interests include point-of-care ultrasonography in critical illness and education.
Mark Bromley BSc, MD, FRCPC
Clinical Lecturer, Department of Emergency Medicine- Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary
Mark trained in emergency medicine at the University of Calgary. He completed a focus in point-of-care ultrasound and has been a Master Instructor with the EDE course since 2008. His special interests include medical education and a multidisciplinary approach to point-of-care ultrasound. Mark also has interests in ultrasound within pediatric emergency medicine and the pre-hospital environment.
