Dermatology
Our service provides consultations for children with skin conditions in Alberta, and neighbouring Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
Currently, our Pediatric Dermatology clinic occurs on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in the Infectious Diseases clinic at the Alberta Children's Hospital.
Conditions diagnosed and treated:
- Skin lesions not yet diagnosed
- Vascular anomalies (coordinated care with the Vascular Birth Mark Clinic)
- Nevi/moles
- Dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Pigmentation disorders
- Hair/Nail abnormalities
- Complicated Acne
- Genodermatoses
- Autoimmune disorders
- Urticaria and related syndromes
- Infections
- Tumours/Nodules
We also have multi disciplinary clinics with Genetics, Plastic Surgery, and Vascular Anomalies.
Current research activities within this section include:
- Severe cutaneous reactions in children: revising diagnostic criteria, systematic review, and retrospective cohort study (Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Team Grant)
- Clinical trials (Dr. Prajapati, private office)
- Recurrent RIME multicentre registry (Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Team Grant)
- Systematic review and consensus management of RIME (PeDRA Consensus Grant)
- PEDISTAD / BIOMARKER study for atopic dermatitis
- CANDID study patients starting dupilumab for atopic dermatitis
We do not currently offer a PGME program in Pediatric Dermatology. Elective and observership opportunities are available.
