Cardiology
We provide excellence in cardiac care to children born with heart disease and those who develop heart problems later in life. We serve southern Alberta as well as parts of British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
The Pediatric Cardiology service at Alberta Children’s Hospital was established in 1985. Our cardiac multidisciplinary team currently consists of nine cardiologists, nurses, cardiac sonographers, ECG technologists and other allied health professionals. We provide excellence in cardiac care to children born with heart disease and those who develop heart problems later in life. We serve southern Alberta as well as parts of British Columbia and Saskatchewan. We also offer travelling clinics to Lethbridge.
Ours is a non-cardiac surgical program supported by the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute at Stollery Hospital in Edmonton where our patients undergo cardiac surgery and catheterization. We are affiliated with the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network, the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, the University of Calgary and Cumming School of Medicine.
In addition to clinical care, our program emphasizes education of patients, families and healthcare providers about cardiac disease, and promotes cardiovascular health and research.
