Biography

Dr. Ashley Blagdon is from Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, where she completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry, medical school, and residency in Pediatrics at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She then underwent two years of subspecialty fellowship training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (NPM) at the University of Toronto and a six-month clinical fellowship in Transport Medicine through the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto). In 2019, she accepted a Clinical Lecturer position with the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and was promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor in 2022. In the Fall of 2022, Dr. Blagdon also completed a Master degree in Health Professions Education through Queen's University.  

Dr. Blagdon's main areas of interest include medical education (specifically curriculum design and CQI), simulation, quality improvement (QI), and family-integrated care (FICare) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In addition to teaching and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows, Dr. Blagdon is the current Program Director for the University of Calgary NPM Fellowship Training Program and is also involved with the Pediatric Residency Training Committee and the National NPM OSCE Planning Committee.
