The Pediatric Oncology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program provides comprehensive, multiprofessional specialized services to children and young adults with oncologic disorders and to those treated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).

The Pediatric Oncology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program provides comprehensive, multiprofessional specialized services to children and young adults with oncologic disorders and to those treated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).  These services extend from diagnosis through long-term survivorship or end-of-life care.  The program is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, C17 (a consortium of the 17 pediatric hematology oncology centres in Canada) and of POETIC (Paediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutic Investigators Consortium), a North American Phase I clinical trials consortium.   Inpatient and outpatient services are located at the Alberta Children's Hospital.  Radiation therapy is provided at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, a facility of the Alberta Cancer Board.  Outreach programs extend care delivery options to Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.

The Pediatric HSCT program serves the province of Alberta and is part of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program at the TBCC.  The Program utilizes matched and matched-unrelated sources of hematopoietic stem cells to provide autologous, allogeneic and cord blood transplants to children with oncologic, hematologic, metabolic and immunologic disorders.  Our Phase I clinical trials are open to children from across Canada.

A physician Referral is required for all Clinics. Please contact your physician or family doctor.

The Program receives generous support from the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta.
