Principles of Research Course

Principles of Research Course & Welcoming Dinner

The Principles of Research Course is designed to introduce surgical fellows to key concepts in clinical research and evidence-based surgery. This full-day session offers an interactive and collaborative environment where participants engage with topics such as identifying research gaps, appraising research methodology, developing researchable questions, and understanding the role of qualitative methods and patient-reported outcomes.

The course also covers essential skills including effective poster presentation, scholarly writing, and navigating the ethics review process at the University of Calgary. Participants are introduced to valuable institutional resources such as ABSPORU and the Office of Surgical Research.

The day concludes with a Welcoming Dinner, offering an opportunity for fellows to connect with faculty, peers, and research staff in a relaxed and collegial setting.

Details for the 2025 course and dinner are to be determined.
