Internal Funding Requests
The Department of Pediatrics has established an internal process to fund small projects on an ad-hoc basis.
Internal Funding Application and Reporting
Review the internal funding process diagram below to understand the application, review and reporting process.
The Project Lead must be a primary member of the academic (UCalgary) or clinical (AHS) Department of Pediatrics and remain so for the duration of the project.
- Ensure proposals align with the Department’s strategic priorities (please see link to plan below for further details).
- Small bridge funding requests are allowed as interim support while seeking additional funding.
- Demonstrate attempts to secure external funding before applying.
- External peer review from a scientific committee or funding body is strongly encouraged.
The application requires a brief project summary and budget. Please review the budget item eligibility before submitting.
An annual report is requested from those who have received internal funds.
The following are examples of projects and initiatives that have received support through the internal funding process:
- Matching funds for external grant applications
- Resident/trainee led small projects
- Pilot data or metrics collection for future grant applications
- Short-term bridge funding
- Quality improvement projects and process evaluations
- Projects or programs that support Department member wellness
- Conferences, workshops, or other events hosted by Department sections or groups
