Orthopaedic Surgery | Research | Funding Opportunities

There are a number of orthopaedic funding opportunities available to section members. Call for Applications for the various competitions are distributed via email to the Calgary orthopaedic community.  Contact Judy Crawford at acortho@ucalgary.ca for specific details.

The Office of Surgical Research is issuing a call for research proposals from investigators from all sections within the Department of Surgery.

The Department of Surgery is interested in supporting projects that make a substantial contribution to advancing research in surgical education, practice, theory, and/or research methods. Research projects are expected to be completed within two years from the time grant monies are received. The grant will award between $1,000 to $4,000 in total. Applications involving trainees within the department will be encouraged, with priority given to those in Royal College accredited programs.

The WCB-Alberta Research Program collaborates with the local research community to find solutions for WCB issues, develop research in the areas of work-related injuries and illnesses, and assist in the administration of injury compensation systems. The program enhances the relationship between WCB and the scientific, academic, and medical research communities. The Research Program facilitates the development and application of knowledge in a practical way that benefits the operation of the workers’ compensation system in Alberta.

Letters of Intent are due annually in the late winter/early spring (click on link below for full details).

The Research Portfolio of the Section of Orthopaedic Research is capturing all Orthopaedic Faculty member's proposed research projects to be assembled into a booklet and distributed on an annual basis.
