Welcome to the Section of Podiatric Surgery.

Our section includes 12 surgeons who deliver surgeries to all five hospitals in the Calgary Zone. We perform surgeries related to disorders of the lower extremity, including the foot and the ankle, and provide patient education, prevention tools, off-loading of ulcerations, and advanced wound care. We specialize in Limb Preservation Surgery, which can involve draining infection from a foot abscess, removing tissue, and performing minor amputations.

Due to the complexity and multifactorial health conditions of diabetic foot ulcerations, we work closely with the Section of Vascular Surgery to ensure optimized blood flow and enhanced healing. We also consult with other specialties as required, including infectious disease, internal medicine, endocrinology, and plastic surgery.
