Biography

Having worked in three different health care systems, Rosario is passionate about imparting her learnings to medical students.

In 1979, Rosario provided surgical care, community services and worked on health prevention and promotional activities in her home country of Nicaragua. Having a comprehensive medical history and completing a thorough physical exam was of key importance to getting a diagnosis.

Due to political turmoil, her family immigrated to the USA in 1983.  In USA was the height of the HIV epidemic and patients were dying without a diagnosis. Through compassionate care, Rosario earned her patients' trust.

In 1988, Rosario and her family moved to Canada where she served mainly the immigrants and senior populations. Rosario provided holistic patient center care with an emphasis on empowering patients.

As part of the outreach Global Health Nicaragua initiative, Rosario has liaised with Calgary specialists in the fields of cardiology, cancer care, molecular biology and genetics to improve the Nicaragua health system.
