The Helios University of Calgary Medical Group (UCMG) Advanced Fellowship Training Awards allow some of our most outstanding clinical trainees to undertake additional fellowship training at other institutions and bring their expertise back to benefit our Calgary community. They are funded by contributions from UCMG via the Clinical Faculty Renewal Fund, the Helios Clinic, the Calgary Foundation, the CSM and our departments.
Award recipients will focus on several specialties in locations across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
To be eligible for the UCMG Helios award, you must:
- have completed PGME training by June of the year you’re applying for (i.e. June 2023 for the 2023 Helios award)
- Be pursuing further advanced clinical or scholarly training to enhance their skills post-residency at another institution
- Plan to return to Calgary on completion of training to practice medicine, have a full-time or clinical faculty appointment and be a member of UCMG to enhance the expertise within our community
Your Department Head needs to support your application by providing the following:
- A completed cover sheet
- A letter from the applicant describing the training they will be undertaking and any funding available for that training
- A copy of the applicant’s CV
- A letter supporting the applicant and confirmation the Department will provide matching funding to a Helios UCMG Post Fellowship Award
