Visiting Elective: Residents Training in Canada

Eligibility

To be eligible for an elective in Family Medicine through the University of Calgary:

> You must be enrolled in an accredited Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) program at another Canadian university.

> You must be listed on the Provisional Register of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

> You must hold CMPA liability coverage for the duration of your elective.

How to Apply

Contact the Elective Scheduler at the Family Medicine Residency Program:

> Submit your placement request, including your preferred dates and preceptor (if known).

> Placements must be a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks.

> Requests should be submitted at least eight weeks before the elective start date.

For Electives in Whitehorse, Yukon

If you are requesting a placement in Whitehorse:

Once Your Placement Is Confirmed

When you receive confirmation of your elective placement, you must submit the following documents to the Family Medicine Residency Program’s Elective Scheduler (fmelect@ucalgary.ca):

> A Letter of Support from your home program
