Visiting Elective: International residents

How to apply

> Contact the Family Medicine Residency Program’s Elective Scheduler:

> Electives must be a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks in duration with one preceptor, if possible.

Submit your Initial Request

Send a formal Letter of Request addressed to:
Dr. Martina Barton, Program Director, Family Medicine Residency Program

Send your letter to the Elective Scheduler at fmelect@ucalgary.ca, along with:

> Curriculum Vitae (CV)

> Copy of Passport

> Home Program Letter of Support confirming:
- Approval and dates of the elective
- Postgraduate year (PGY) level, date of birth, and resident’s email
- A statement confirming your salary will remain with your home university during the elective

These deadlines ensure that the Family Medicine Program can submit all documentation in time to meet the University of Calgary’s requirements.
