Clinic Structure and Services
- South Health Campus Family Medicine Teaching Clinic uses a team-based approach to teaching and learning.
- Residents are provided with EMR access (Med Access) and are seen as an integral part of the team.
- Residents work mainly with their primary preceptor, providing continuity of patient relationships with residents and providers. In addition, residents benefit from interactions and learning from on-site allied health professionals. There are also regular opportunities to learn from and interact with different preceptors. Overall we facilitate residents developing a graduated increase in responsibility while providing continuity with patients they follow.
- Team members provide patient care out of 2 modules each designed around a large teaming room and 9-10 exam rooms.
- Direct observation is available in 3 exam rooms on each module.
- Routine appointments, prenatal care, pediatrics visits, chronic disease visits, Periodic Health Examinations, procedures, counseling and same day/emergency appointments are offered. Common procedures include wart treatments, skin biopsies, excisions, IUD insertions, endometrial biopsies, nail wedge excisions, and some MSK injections.
- Lunch and learn sessions are held regularly with residents and various team members taking turns presenting topics for discussion.
- Residents are invited to monthly module meetings regarding clinic operations.
