Welcome to the University of Calgary Functional Movement Disorder Clinic

This website is intended for our patients, and their families and friends.

We are a transdisciplinary clinic dedicated to supporting people with Functional Movement Disorder (FMD). In particular, we see people with Functional Neurological Disorder, where a primary concern is a problem(s) with movement function.

Our clinic is part of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary and first opened in November 2023. We are located at the South Health Campus in SE Calgary. Our clinic includes the expertise and services of a neurologist, neuropsychiatrists, a registered nurse, and clerk. All of our team members have specialized knowledge about Functional Neurological Disorder.

For Referring Physicians

Please review the referral criteria at the Alberta Referral Directory https://albertareferraldirectory.ca/

At this time, referrals are only accepted from neurologists and neuropsychiatrists for patients living in southern Alberta (Red Deer and south). Out of province referrals are not accepted. Referrals are accepted for patients who have received a diagnosis of FND with major concern being movement/motor function who consent to the referral. We do not provide second opinions.

Referrals are directed through Neurology Central Access and Triage (NCAT). Please submit referrals via Connect Care to Calgary Zone Neurology CAT, or via fax faxed at (403) 476-8771.

If your referral does not meet criteria or is declined, we suggest reviewing the Resources section of this website. Thank you for advocating for your patient.
