Faculty members recognized at Canadian Cardiovascular Congress

The 2014 Canadian Cardiovascular Congress took place in Vancouver, BC last month where members of the Cumming School of Medicine were honoured for their outstanding contributions in cardiovascular health and care.

The 2014 Canadian Cardiovascular Congress took place in Vancouver, BC, last month where members of the Cumming School of Medicine were honoured for their outstanding contributions in cardiovascular health and care. 

Dr. Norm Campbell – Canadian Cardiovascular Society's Dr. Harold N. Segall Award of Merit. The award, named for the late Dr. Harold N. Segall, a founding Member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS), is offered in recognition of a significant contribution to the prevention of cardiovascular disease or the promotion of cardiovascular health in Canadians. 

Dr. D. George Wyse – Canadian Heart Rhythm Society's Annual Achievement Awards for Lifetime Achievement. The award was created in 2012 in recognition of Canadians who have made outstanding contributions in their career within the cardiovascular heart rhythm field.

Dr. Merril Knudtson – Canadian Cardiovascular Society Annual Achievement Award for Lifetime Achievement. The Annual Achievement Award was created in 1992 in recognition of Canadians who have made outstanding contributions in their career within the cardiovascular field.

In addition to the awards presentations, Dr. L Brent Mitchell was named president of the Canadian Heart Rhythm Society.
