Enhanced Skills Teaching Recognition Awards

Each year, ES Residents are asked to nominate preceptors for awards of recognition. Read about the different awards below and the awardees for each enhanced skills program area. Congratulations!

Outstanding Teaching Award

The Outstanding Teaching Award recognizes special efforts and motivation of a faculty to go above and beyond by tailoring their teaching to meet the unique needs of each learner. 

This award also honours faculty that have significant and positive impact on engaging Residents to take an active role in their own learning.

  • Care of the Elderly: Drs. Karen Fruetel & Emily Kwan
  • FP-Anesthesia: Dr. Lindsay MacKenzie

Equity in Learning Excellence Award

The Equity in Learning Excellence Award recognizes the outstanding and significant contribution of a faculty who value and leverage each Resident’s learning capability by providing relevant academic support that result in successful learning outcomes. 

This award celebrates faculty who serves as a critical resource for any resident pursuing more advanced learning opportunities or otherwise requiring more support to address learning barriers.

  • Care of the Elderly: Dr. Paula Pearce
  • Sport and Exercise Medicine: Dr. Nick Mohtadi

 

Excellence in Mentoring Award

The Excellence in Mentoring Award recognizes exceptional mentoring in Palliative Care that goes beyond standard clinical precepting which result in a significant impact in resident’s learning of high-quality patient care.  

This award upholds efforts in engaging learners beyond teaching to include aiding the resident’s personal and professional development.

Excellence in Service to Resident Medical Education Award - Palliative Care

2023 award recipient: Dr. Russell Loftus

The Excellence in Service to Resident Medical Education Award recognizes the dedication to resident organization within our service.  The award further upholds the quality of teaching in Palliative Care that goes beyond standard clinical precepting which result in a significant impact in resident’s learning of high-quality patient care.   Additionally, the award places importance in the invaluable diverse participation in Monday Education Seminars.

 

Exceptional Teaching Award for Palliative Care

2023 award recipients: Drs. Justin Black & Sara Pawlik (AHD), Drs. Charlie Chen & Samuel Shum (Monday Seminars)

The Award for Exceptional Service in Palliative Care Academic Teaching honours and recognizes a faculty member’s substantial academic contribution through the breadth, depth and number of sessions conducted throughout the academic year. This award recognizes the faculty who has demonstrated and continues to strive for the betterment of palliative care academic sessions in the delivery of diverse academic topics.
