The University of Calgary is proud to announce the return of the UCalgaryStrong Festival — a celebration of community, wellness, and resilience.

This year’s UCalgaryStrong Festival is bigger than ever. Enjoy a range of fun activities, including live music, artists, a tone of games, free food and more! In addition to Village ice cream and doughnuts from Hoopla, this year’s festival will also have a free student barbecue (while supplies last). For a full list of activities and times check out the UCalgaryStrong Festival website.

The UCalgaryStrong Festival is a safe and alcohol-free way for the entire community to enjoy the semester coming to an end. “It’s great to see students celebrating their accomplishments as the end of the winter term classes come to a close. We want our diverse student community to be able to have fun, while remaining safe, healthy and respectful to each other and members of our community,” says Verity Turpin, vice-provost (student experience) at UCalgary. “The UCalgaryStrong Festival is an opportunity for all students to connect with friends and peers on campus.”

The UCalgaryStrong Festival is more than just a celebration at the end of an academic term. It is a chance for the university to partner and support members of our community. From the food vendors, who are all local businesses, to the performances, the festival highlights the importance of our role in the community.

So, as the end of classes approaches, let's celebrate responsibly and show our UCalgaryStrong spirit at the festival. Remember —  it's not only about having a good time, but also about taking care of ourselves and each other.

The UCalgaryStrong Festival will be held at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 12 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Support available

If you or someone you know needs assistance on the last day of classes due to substance use, UCalgary has some supports.

  • UCalgary’s Post-Alcohol Support Space (PASS) is a medically supervised, judgment-free space on campus where members of the university community can sleep off the effects of alcohol and/or cannabis. PASS can help lower the risk of alcohol- and cannabis-related injury by monitoring intoxicated individuals — keeping them safe and regularly assessing the need for medical treatment.
