Biography
Dr. Julie Kromm obtained her MD from the University of Alberta. She then completed residencies in neurology at University of Alberta, and critical care medicine at University of Calgary. Thereafter, she completed a fellowship in neurocritical care at Columbia and Cornell Universities. In addition to her triple board certification, throughout her training she has attained certification in various neuro-monitoring modalities including electroencephalography, evoked potentials and transcranial doppler ultrasonography. Dr. Kromm joined the Department of Critical care Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences in 2019. She is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Calgary and practices as an intensivist and neurologist at Foothills Medical Centre and Rockyview General Hospital. She is a co-lead for the Hotchkiss Brain Institute Neurocritical Care Research Team. Her research focuses on the logistics of continuous multimodal monitoring of critically ill patients. She has 15 peer-reviewed publications and has written 2 textbook chapters. She is actively involved undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education. She has recently established a Neurocritical Care fellowship program at the University of Calgary. She is a Master Teacher for the Cumming School of Medicine, and Foothills Medical Centre ICU Assistant Education Coordinator. She also co-leads an annual Neurocritical Care Society critical care electroencephalography course. She has received numerous awards for her teaching and leadership.
