Biography

Myles Leslie, PhD is a patient engagement and health services researcher in the Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Community Health Sciences, and an assistant professor at the School of Public Policy in the health and social policy stream.  His work focuses on applying the principles of engagement and involvement to re-world challenges in the policy and practice of healthcare.  Dr. Leslie’s primary substantive interest is in eldercare and the technology, policy, organizational, and clinical level reforms that are needed to support the delivery of high quality care and wellbeing programs to Canada’s seniors.  He brings extensive international experience in ethnography and related qualitative methods to his role as Associate Director of Research at the School of Public Policy, and an interest in the origins and challenges of trust in the creation and implementation of policy to his teaching.  Dr. Leslie joined the University of Calgary faculty in the autumn of 2016, arriving from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.  He was trained at the Universities of Toronto and Leicester where he held Canada Graduate and Trudeau Foundation Scholarships, and a post-doctoral position in patient safety and quality.
