Biography
Dr. Arbillaga is a Clinical Associate Professor within the Division of Rheumatology, and also runs a large community practice in Northeast Calgary. Originally from Argentina, he received his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of La Plata, National University, where he also completed his Internal Medicine and Rheumatology training. Dr. Arbillaga completed a fellowship in Still's disease at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey-USA and a Post Doctoral Research fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at Thomas Jefferson University, A. I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Delaware-USA.
He came to Calgary in 2000 and completed a fellowship in Telematics under the supervision of Dr. Steve Edworthy. He completed training in MSK US at Universita Politecnica delle Marche in Jesi, Italy under the supervision of Drs. W. Grassi and E. Filippucci. In 2015, Dr. Arbillaga graduated from the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program (GCSRT) from Harvard Medical School. He started his clinicaI practice in 2004 in Lethbridge, where he was the only rheumatologist in rural Southern Alberta. Dr. Arbillaga moved to Calgary in 2011 and opened a full time community practice but continued to provide service to the Lethbridge area on a monthly basis until 2019. Dr. Arbillaga’s practice has a focus on inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune conditions. During his many years of practice, he has been involved in teaching and research including pharmaceutical sponsored RCTs. He is a member of the CRA, CaNIOS and CATCH.
