Video and Photo at Foothills Spaces

Approval applies to all University of Calgary (Foothills campus) and Alberta Health Services (Foothills Medical Centre, Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre)

Submit Request and Consent to Protocols

All individuals seeking to take video or photos on Foothills campus or at the Foothills Medical Centre are required to inform the communications teams at the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) and Alberta Health Services (AHS). Loop in communications as soon as you start the planning process. We are here to help facilitate your request and ensure privacy, public health and organizational procedures are followed. 

*If you are using an external, third-party company, a certificate of insurance is required. Ensure you have this at the beginning of your project.

Protocols to be aware of

Health and Safety 

  • Masking policies – AHS and UCalgary requirements may be different. 

Labs

  • Food and water are not allowed in any lab spaces, including bottled water. 

  • All lab health and safety protocols must be followed; this may include safety goggles, gloves, lab coats. 

  • Closed toed shoes are required in all labs.  

Offices, Clinics and public spaces within all facilities

  • Most spaces are “scent free” zones. 

  • Patient care CANNOT be disrupted. If there is a desire to film in a certain area, ensure you have approval to be in that area (this may be site leadership, AHS and/or university approvals). 

  • Health records and patient privacy are paramount – patients, staff, physicians and visitors cannot be filmed or photographed without written consent. 

  • All team members who regularly use the space should be aware in advance of the plan to film in the space
