Biography

I joined the Department of Community Health Sciences in 2016, following postdoctoral work at the School of Nursing, University of British Columbia and a doctorate in Behavioural Health Science and Addiction Studies at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. I am a qualitative methodologist and a public health sociologist and my research focuses on adolescent and young adult substance use, harm reduction, and drug policy reform. In addition to research on youth cannabis use and the public health implications of cannabis legalization in Canada, my current projects also include qualitative research on the family contexts of substance use. My work focuses on youth and community engagement through participatory and arts-based methods including participant-produced photography and digital storytelling.
