CTMS FAQs

We don’t like doing the same work in multiple places either.

The CTMS can replace a lot of the work that you’re currently doing in spreadsheets, shared drives, email, and calendars.

It can make your work more efficient too – a lot of CTMS functionality is automated and builds off of what you’ve already done in the system.

In the CTMS, you can do things once and apply it elsewhere. For example, you build a single protocol calendar and then apply it to every participant. If someone misses a visit, you can adjust the rest of their visits all at once. The CTMS also uses what has been done in the system to assist with other tasks. For example, if you mark a visit as occurred, the relevant charges will be ready for invoicing.

When it comes to other systems that the CTMS doesn’t replace, like ethics, we’re building integrations so that you don’t have to enter the same information again. If there’s no integration available, we can offer some tips on how to export information from the CTMS in a way that will still be helpful.

We are the CCCR Provincial OnCore Services Team (POST). We are dedicated to answering all questions about OnCore, building your studies, calendars and budgets for you, and training your team to use OnCore.

The CTMS implementation is complete at all participating institutions and the system is ready to use.

Your clinical trial team can sign up for training and migration anytime.

The CTMS will streamline clinical trial processes for research teams and institutional services. The more studies using it, the greater the realization of its benefits will be. At the Cross Cancer Institute, the new CTMS will be adopted by all clinical trial staff. Leadership at the Universities of Alberta and Calgary are encouraging a wide uptake of the system and we hope you’re as excited about it as we are.

Your institution has licensed the CTMS software on your behalf. Alberta Innovates is supporting the implementation cost. None of the participating institutions plan to charge researchers for the use of the CTMS.

The Provincial OnCore Support Office (POST) will walk you through the whole process by:

  • Providing team engagement materials in advance
  • Building your protocols, calendars, and budgets for you
  • Training your team
  • Conducting protocol handoff meetings for each of your studies
