Supporting our people and our communities

We put people at the center of everything we do. We aim to be an employer of choice and to effectively support every member of the CSM, including professional staff and clinical faculty. We will engage with individuals and the communities we serve. 

Objectives

  3. To be known by international medical research and education communities as a leading collaborator

Strategies

Promote a healthy learning and working environment

• Develop clear reporting pathways for learners, faculty and staff concerns (view here)
• Hire a navigator to support the reporting process
• Regular meetings with education portfolios and CSM senior leadership
• Create programming to support a culture of integration among learners
• Provide supports for regular events, communications and campaigns that celebrate and promote CSM diversity and excellence
• Establish an anti-racism policy in CSM
• Provide opportunities for career growth and development in the medical sciences
• Highlight the achievements of learners, educators, clinicians, researchers and staff

Ensure wellness supports available for all

• Promote wellness supports to all groups within the CSM community
• Improve access to psychologists and psychiatrists
• Create learner wellness programs
• Expand support for the Headversity app

Improve transactional processes

• Conduct a review of operational and transactional processes in human resources, finance, information technology and facilities to identify areas of improvement

Engage with patients/citizens

• Create community events which encourage individuals to share their experiences
• Implement Care Opinion, a digital communication tool to connect with patients/individuals (view here)
• Solicit community engagement in the co-design of educational curricula, research mandate and shaping the health ecosystem

Promote international collaboration

• Expand ongoing collaboration with the University of Melbourne and other international partners
• Create a PhD/MD program with international partners
• Promote reciprocity and balanced partnerships in global health
