Gastroenterology Education

Training future clinicians and researchers in gastroenterology and hepatology is an important component of our Division. Our members participate in all levels of clinical education from the undergraduate level to fellowship level. As well, our members supervise undergraduate and graduate students in addition to postdoctoral fellows in research.

Undergraduate

The University of Calgary Medicine Program is a three-year program with the first two years being pre-clerkship and the third year being clerkship. We provide training in both phases of the undergraduate program and offer selectives/electives in Gastroenterology for interested students in the clerkship level of training. Elective applications from students outside of the University of Calgary can be made through the application portal.

Postgraduate

Trainees from internal medicine and general surgery at the University of Calgary rotate through Gastroenterology where they receive a robust experience to all aspects of Gastroenterology. Elective opportunities are available in Gastroenterology and its specialities and applications can be made through Evelina Kordakis (evkordak@ucalgary.ca).

We offer a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited training program in Adult Gastroenterology.
