Respiratory Medicine

Our Program

The University of Calgary offers a 2-year training program designed to qualify residents for Royal College subspecialty certification in Adult Respirology. Our mandate is to provide an inclusive and welcoming program centered around the needs of our residents so that they successfully achieve all the training requirements for certification. Our program provides exposure to all facets of Respirology including critical care medicine, sleep medicine, thoracic surgery, TB/NTM, pulmonary hypertension, lung transplant, ILD, bronchiectasis, interventional pulmonary medicine, pulmonary function testing, CPET, and ambulatory clinics. Our goal is to work closely with residents to help them achieve our shared goal of becoming excellent consultants in respiratory medicine who will take on leadership roles in clinical, academic, research, or administrative capacities in either academic or community settings.

This program offers a wealth of clinical material, a well-rounded and collegial teaching staff and a structured academic half day with a broad and inclusive curriculum.
