HPTP
Home Parenteral Therapy Program clinics provide outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy to patients in the Calgary Health Zone. Patients requiring parenteral antibacterial therapies straddle the margin between inpatient and ambulatory – as they generally are being treated for life threating acute and chronic infections. Patients are usually referred and seen the next day from Urgent Care or Emergency Rooms, or are those patients discharged from hospital with continuing need for parenteral antibiotics. The HPTP clinic is a multi-disciplinary clinic staffed by ID physicians, dedicated HPTP nursing staff and pharmacists.
