Infectious Disease Sub-Specialty Training Program

The Calgary Adult Infectious Disease Residency Training Program trains those clinicians intent on pursuing a career in clinical infectious diseases.  Trainees can expect expert tutelage in all area disciplines, broad exposure to infectious disease presentations, and opportunities to excel in research and education.

Internal Medicine

Dr. Bayan Missaghi serves as the ID division liaison with the internal medicine residency training program.  Dr. Missaghi will assist local and visiting residents in understanding the expectations and outputs required during their ID block.

Antimicrobial Stewardship – Area of Focused Competency

Dr. John Conly (Adult Infectious Diseases) and Dr. Joseph Vayalumkal (Pediatric Infectious Disease) lead this Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada program. This program, the first in the country attracts highly motivated individuals from a multitude of disciplines (infectious disease, medical microbiology, internal medicine, pediatrics, and Public Health and Preventative Medicine) to pursue advanced training in antimicrobial stewardship, mentored by world-leading experts.
